The success of video game/figurine hybrid franchise Disney Infinity led Disney Interactive to full-year profits, Disney announced this week. Disney Infinity is leading a turnaround for the interactive segment, which had been struggling to gain traction prior to the launch of the Infinity franchise. In March, Disney Interactive laid off 700 workers. Sales for the fiscal year ended in September were up 22 percent to $1.3 billion in the interactive business. Operating profits were $116 million, a big improvement over the previous year's $87 million loss. Disney Infinity 2.0 launched September 23, so it was only able to contribute a few days' worth of sales for the fiscal period. Disney also attributed interactive segment growth to mobile games Tsum Tsum and Frozen Free Fall. Overall full-year Disney revenues across all business segments were up 8 percent to $49 billion, while profits increased 22 percent to $7.5 billion.
