Disney Interactive Studios on Thursday confirmed development of the multiplatform, multiplayer action adventure game Disney Universe, due for fall 2011. The game's announcement comes as the company shifts resources away from console development in order to focus primarily on social and online initiatives. Disney Universe, slated for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC and Mac, will mix up popular Disney characters and worlds inspired by both animated and live action films from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Disney Interactive said players will be able to suit up in more than 40 Disney character "costumes," including characters from Alice in Wonderland, Monsters Inc., Tron and Lilo & Stitch. Each costume utilizes specific abilities, and four players can play at once. The studio said the game [YouTube trailer] would offer an "ever-evolving gameplay experience" through downloadable items and content post-launch.
