Gamasutra has learned that Grey Goo developer Petroglyph Games laid off more than a dozen people this week from its studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A source close to the matter confirmed the news and estimated that at least 20 people had lost their jobs at the studio, predominantly folks working in the production and art departments.

The source claimed that while many studio employees believed Petroglyph was having a hard time bringing in enough money to sustain operations, these cutbacks were unexpected.

Gamasutra has reached out to studio representatives for more details and we'll update this story with any meaningful response. If you or someone you know was affected by this decision you can email Gamasutra to tell your story confidentially.
