Grand Theft Auto V has sold in close to 110 million units worldwide since launching in September 2013.

We know the game had sold in over 95 million units as of May 2018, meaning the popular open-world title has managed to shift another 15 million copies over the past year.

The news comes straight from publisher Take-Two, with company president Strauss Zelnick explaining that sales of the title continue to "exceed expectations" nearly six years after launch.

Speaking during a recent earning call, Zelnick added that Grand Theft Auto Online also continues to be a big earner for Take-Two, and said the online mode grew "substantially" during the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year.

The game's success helped Take-Two closed out the past fiscal year with record net bookings of $2.93 billion, with digital earnings from both GTA Online and GTA V playing a key role in achieving that total.
