2K Games has announced a partnership with XL Games, the development team founded by Lineage creator Jake Song, that will see XL Games develop an Asian MMO based on a 2K franchise.
2K Games, a wholly owned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive, has announced a partnership with XL Games, the development team founded by Lineage creator Jake Song. XL Games will develop an MMO for the Asian market based on one of 2K Games' top-selling franchises, although the specific franchise has yet to be revealed. Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, noted that with this partnership, 2K now has three upcoming projects in development in Asia. "One of 2K’s key long-term initiatives is to bring our groundbreaking, triple-A entertainment experiences to broader audiences through emerging online platforms and markets," he said. "Our partnership with XL Games underscores our ongoing commitment to expanding 2K’s presence in online gaming and the Asian market by leveraging our creative expertise with companies that are proven leaders in the region." Song noted that XL has already been working on the new title for a year, and called it "one of the most exciting projects that I’ve ever undertaken".
