Mass Effect 3 dominates UK charts in opening weekend

EA's Mass Effect 3 stormed the UK sales charts during its opening weekend, outselling the opening week sales of the previous two Mass Effect games combined. For the week ended March 10, and according to data from tracking firm Chart-Track, Mass Effect 3 knocked SSX off the top spot, with the snowboarding title seeing sales drop by 49 percent week-over-week. The top 10 saw two more new titles last week, as Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken took position three, and The Sims 3: Showtime landed at number six. FIFA 12 continued to hover around the top of the charts at number four, while Nintendo's Mario Party 9 dropped two places to number five, although it saw an 8 percent rise in sales week-over-week.
