At an Apple press event in California today Niantic chief John Hanke hopped onstage to tout the fact that Niantic and The Pokemon Company's augmented-reality mobile game Pokemon Go has been downloaded more than half a billion times.

That's a significant number given the game launched roughly two months ago, quickly taking the world by storm

And now that storm seems to be spreading, as Hanke announced onstage that Pokemon Go will be jumping from mobile to wrist and debuting as an Apple Watch app.
