Newsbrief: Shadowrun Returns, the new PC and tablet game from series creator Jordan Weisman, has finished its successful Kickstarter campaign with more than $1.8 million in pledges. The game, which earlier this month hit its initial $400,000 Kickstarter goal less than one day, promises to pay homage to the classic turn-based Shadowrun titles on the SNES and Genesis. It's the latest game in a series that has enjoyed a cult following since its debut as a pen and paper RPG in 1989. After a long hiatus, the series saw a return in 2007 when Microsoft published a critically panned first-person shooter for PC and Xbox 360, but Shadowrun Returns is the first project in years to go back to the franchise's role-playing roots.
