Seattle-based En Masse Entertainment initiated a round of layoffs late last month that saw an unspecified number of people lose their jobs in order "to better position the company for the future."
The company is best known for publishing and operating the Korean MMORPG Tera, developed by its parent company Bluehole Studio, in Western markets. The game initially launched in Korea in 2011 as a subscription-based game, then came to North America in 2012 and went free-to-play in 2013.
En Masse gave a statement to MMORPG.com this week confirming that it plans to continue supporting both Tera and its upcoming cross-platform game Battleplans, but that "staff reductions were part of the shift, in late March, to better position the company for the future."
If you or someone you know was affected by this decision you can email Gamasutra to tell your story in confidence.
