Big-budget games still lead the pack, but a mix of independent and big publisher games has been chosen for recognition by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
Today, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences announced the full list of nominees for its annual awards, which are held during the D.I.C.E. conference, every February in Las Vegas. The awards are chosen by the A.I.A.S.' 22,000+ members across development and publishing, which includes the members of the IGDA. This year sees Naughty Dog and Sony's The Last of Us a favorite, as the game is nominated in 13 categories across the awards. Grand Theft Auto V nabbed seven nominations while BioShock Infinite took six, with Tearaway and Assassin's Creed IV each getting five. This year's awards slate sees greater recognition of independently developed games, with The Novelist, Gone Home, The Stanley Parable, Divekick, Ridiculous Fishing, Candy Box, and Papers, Please all up for category awards.
