Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Strangely enough, an Uncharted 4 trailer went up today with Assassin's Creed concept art. Developer Naughty Dog has fixed the video and issued an apology.
Today, Sony published a new trailer for Uncharted 4 that happened to include a piece of Assassin's Creed concept artwork as a piece of framed wall art within the game-world.
Sony and developer Naughty Dog have acknowledged the mistake, taken down the old trailer, and published a new, fixed version.
Polygon has a good overview of the saga, and first brought our attention to the story. The artwork was identified on Twitter by Aymar Azaïzia, head of content for Assassin's Creed at Ubisoft Montreal.
The statement from Naughty Dog sent to Gamasutra reads:
"In our eagerness to get the story trailer out we made a regrettable mistake and didn’t thoroughly vet the art work used for an in game painting. We’ve already updated the trailer. We hold all artistry in high regard and take full responsibility for having allowed this to happen. We want to sincerely apologize to everyone at Ubisoft, the Assassin’s Creed team, the original artist and our fans."
When contacted for comment by Gamasutra, a Ubisoft representative acknowledged the Naughty Dog statement and suggested further inquiries on the matter be directed to Sony, Naughty Dog's parent company.
Here are shots from the original trailer and the Ubisoft concept artwork, as tweeted by Azaïzia:
