The cheapest bundle, including headset, will set buyers back $1499, as the launch of the much-anticipated headset draws near.
The Oculus rift itself will cost $599, as we already know; the first wave "Oculus Ready" PCs have been unveiled and will soon be available for preorder. The cheapest, manufactured by Asus, costs $949 in a bundle.
The price of the units -- manufactured by Asus, Alienware, and Dell -- range from $949 to $2,594. The two cheapest have special "bundle pricing" when purchased alongside a Rift headset, and cost more when sold alone. Those who have already successfully preordered a headset are eligible to add the PCs at their reduced rates.
A $1,499 bundle inclduing a PC and a Rift headset will be available for "a limited time only" and, given that the headset alone costs $599 and the cheapest PC on the slate costs $949 in a bundle, that represents a further slight saving of $48 for those who can grab the deal when preorders go live, at 8 AM Pacific time on February 16.
The company first announced its recommended specifications last year, which have not changed; the idea of "Oculus Ready" PCs was first detailed in September at the company's Oculus Connect event, and the image first shown on stage then closely matches the offering detailed today on the company's blog.
The PCs will be available at Best Buy, Amazon, and the Microsoft Store in "select countries and regions."
