In a recent earnings call with investors, Mad Catz CEO Darren Richardson announced "Project M.O.J.O.," a new Android-based microconsole poised to compete with the Ouya and similar devices launching later this year. Project M.O.J.O. will be officially unveiled at E3 next week, said Richardson. Details on the console are currently scarce, however with Mad Catz's background in game peripheral manufacturing, and the promise that the console will be fully compatible with Mad Catz's GameSmart line of controllers and headsets, Project M.O.J.O. could turn into quite the contender. "As games are increasingly crossing geographic borders brought on by the borderless on-line play afforded by the Internet, we will continue our efforts to expand our geographic footprint," said Richardson in the same earnings call. "The keystone product in our GameSmart initiative, Project M.O.J.O., [is] an android micro console configured to harness the maximum gaming horsepower from an android device." In addition to a lack of technical specifications, it is also unknown how developers can expect to get their games onto the device. We will likely learn more about this latest entry into the burgeoning microconsole market in the next few weeks.
