Newsbrief: Take-Two Interactive chief Strauss Zelnick remains bullish about the future of 2K Games' BioShock franchise, which he claims has sold over 25 million to date -- 11 million of which were copies of Irrational Games' swan song BioShock Infinite.

"It's a really important intellectual property for the company," said Zelnick, speaking at conference in New York this week covered by GameSpot. "It's a really important franchise for us."

This is much in line with comments made by Zelnick around this time last year, when he noted that 2K Marin would be shepherding BioShock going forward and that the franchise had "a lot of upside" that "hadn't been realized yet."

However, it's interesting to hear specific sales numbers for BioShock Infinite, which was franchise progenitor Irrational Games' final project before the studio was abruptly dissolved early last year
