Amidst the ongoing financial controversy at Kingdoms of Amalur house 38 Studios, two top executives have left the company, including an ex-Zynga and Sony Online boss who only joined the company this year. The studio's financial problems came to light earlier this month, when it was revealed that it failed to make a $1.125 million loan repayment to the government-owned Rhode Island Economic Development. It eventually made the payment, but was forced to lay off a number of staff. As reported by WPRI, the company's CEO Jen MacLean has now removed her title from her LinkedIn profile, and now states that she left the company in March. Elsewhere, the company's SVP of product placement John Blakely, who joined earlier this year, has also altered his LinkedIn profile to state that he left the company this month. Blakely (pictured) joined 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling earlier this week at a meeting with the R.I. Economic Development Corporation board, suggesting that he relinquished his role at the company sometime this week. 38 Studios intends to release its second game, an MMO codenamed Copernicus, in June 2013, despite these financial issues. The studio released its first game, the Big Huge Games-developed Kingdoms of Amalur, in February and sold around 330,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week on sale.
