Newsbrief: The recently-restructured social publisher 6waves announced on Thursday that it has partnered with BBC Worldwide to launch a series of social games based on the multimedia company's most popular franchises. In May, 6waves plans to launch Top Gear: Speed World, a Facebook racing title from Eyes Wide Games that draws inspiration from the BBC's immensely popular car enthusiast program. Later in the year, the publisher will release Jane Austen’s Rogues & Romance, a hidden object game based on the classic novel Pride and Prejudice. Earlier this month, BBC Worldwide invested an undisclosed sum in Spaceport.io, a company specializing in cross-platform HTML5 technology. By leveraging that company's resources, BBC Worldwide hopes to streamline its mobile and social game development and release games on a wider array of platforms.
