Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Despite earlier remarks concerning the Wii U's "disappointing launch," Activision announced today that it is committing six new titles to the platform, including its Call of Duty: Ghosts.
It appears that the Wii U stands to host six new Activision titles as part of its fall lineup. The roster, as announced by Activision this morning, consists primarily of licensed titles, including SpongeBob Squarepants and two Angry Birds entries. However, Activision is also continuing its Skylanders brand on the platform with Skylanders: Swap Force, as well the latest entry in the biggest name in Activision's portfolio: Call of Duty: Ghosts. "The Call of Duty franchise continues to be one of the most powerful forces in gaming," Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, said in conjunction with the statement. "As we have said before, we're committed to doing everything we can to support the Wii U." Though this statement represents a creative interpretation of recent history -- in May's earning call to investors, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick described the Wii U's launch as "disappointing", and that the overall console transition was leaving the company "cautious" -- this move does represent at least a partial restoration of confidence. Here are the six titles announced for the Wii U from Activision:
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Skylanders: Swap Force
Angry Birds Trilogy
Angry Birds Star Wars
SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge
Wipeout Create & Crash
