Analytics company App Annie updated its mobile game data tracking platform today, adding tracking support for the Windows Phone Store and incorporating a new tool that allows customers to chart an app's performance across multiple global markets simultaneously.
The company's new Windows Phone Store database is currently in beta and only includes sales data on the top 500 Windows Phone Store apps since December 24, 2013, though data from previous months will be added in the weeks to come. Still, it's nice to see App Annie add Microsoft's nascent mobile store to its stable of tracked app markets, which span mobile and desktop platforms.
The addition of cross-country tracking allows App Annie users to chart an app's performance in up to ten different countries on the same graph, which should help minimize headaches for developers trying to decide whether or it's a good idea to market or localize their mobile game for a foreign market.
Given that 2013 was a banner year for mobile app market revenue in countries like Japan, China and South Korea, a tool that makes it easier to gauge your app's global appeal should prove eminently useful.
