Newsbrief: The mobile analytics market is getting a bit more consolidated as mobile market analytics firm App Annie snaps up Vancouver-based competitor Mobidia for an undisclosed amount of cash and stock.

The folks at App Annie claim this acquisition will speed up the firm's international expansion and improve its analytics platform via the integration of data and talent from Mobidia, which started tracking mobile app usage in 2012 and now brings a trove of global data -- along with an office of roughly 30 people that will henceforth be known as App Annie Canada -- to App Annie's roster.

The deal is much akin to App Annie's acquisition of Distimo last year, which resulted in Distimo's data and features being rolled into the App Annie analytics platform as its headquarters in the Netherlands was repurposed to serve as App Annie's "R&D office" in Europe.
