Newsbrief: A coterie of Swedish developers quit their posts at Ghost Games and EA DICE to found Cosmic Picnic, an indie studio that's been quietly working for some time on its debut 2D space exploration game Amazing Discoveries in Outer Space.

Cosmic Picnic are in good company, as Stockholm recently saw the launch of both The Outsiders and Hazelight, indie studios founded by ex-AAA developers with strong ties to DICE.

The founding members of Cosmic Picnic include Niclas Forsell and Filip Karlsson (who each spent time at both Ghost Games and DICE working on titles like Need for Speed: Rivals and Battlefield 4) alongside artist John Holmvall and musician Joakim Canon.

The team hope to bring their debut game, which they describe as a "mix between Kerbal [Space Program] and Spelunky", to PlayStation 4 later this year.
