As part of its major shift towards mobile games, California-based CrowdStar today announced a pair of partnerships that will bring its mobile titles to China and South Korea. CrowdStar has partnered with major Chinese services company Tencent to bring localized versions of Top Girl and Tower Town to China, and with South Korean game publisher Gamevil to bring Top Girl to South Korea. Top Girl was a notable success for CrowdStar last year, after it surpassed 1 million downloads from the App Store in 10 days. An Android version was released in December. Tencent will market iOS versions of the pair of games to its 200 million registered users across China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, while Gamevil, which recently reached 100 million downloads of its games worldwide, will release an Android version of Top Girl for Korea's main phone carriers SK Telecom, KT and LG. These partnerships are part of CrowdStar's global mobile game expansions. The company said last month that it is abandoning all Facebook game development to focus solely on mobile games, and later secured $11.5 million in funding to boost this move. CrowdStar has also partnered with mobile social game developer and network operator Gree, and will release the next entry of its popular Top Girl franchise exclusively on Gree's new platform.
