Today, proving the rumors true, Microsoft announced that it would pay $2.5 billion dollars for Swedish independent studio Mojang, the creator of the immensely popular and influential Minecraft. In five short years, the game went from part-time experiment to selling, by our estimate, 65 million units -- that's astounding performance and, interestingly, flies in the face of many other trends we've seen arise in the game space at the same time (most notably the idea that you can't sell premium games on mobile devices, or that you need to be on Steam to succeed on PC.) Of course, everyone has an opinion on the deal -- Minecraft is one of the biggest games in the world, and Microsoft is one of the biggest companies. We have our own analysis of what the deal means. But this led us to wonder -- what do game developers have to say? To that end, we combed Twitter for developer reactions. We've included the ones that we found most interesting below.
