The latest release in EA's 14-year-old Tiger Woods PGA Tour series sold approximately 225,000 units across all platforms in its first week on sale, EA announced today. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters performed 17 percent better in its first week than 2007's PGA Tour 08, the series' previous quickest seller, the company said. First week digital revenue for the franchise has doubled from last year, the company estimates, thanks in part to iPhone and iPad versions that were the top-grossing sports games on those devices. Players have logged more than 184 million shots across 7 million distinct games on PGA Tour 12 since its March 29 release, EA said, including 2 million rounds at the newly included Augusta National Golf Club. PGA Tour 12 was the first title in the series to feature branding from the PGA Tour's popular Masters tournament, which concluded Sunday, and also the first not to feature Woods' likeness on the game box. EA promised not to distance itself from Woods last December after widespread allegations about his personal life harmed the famous golfer's public image.
