Newsbrief: Electronic Arts lost some people today as the company restructured its Salt Lake studio, known for producing Risk Factions and a bevy of Sims 3 expansions, to focus on mobile development. The news comes courtesy of a Game Informer report, which claims that an EA representative confirmed layoffs at EA Salt Lake and issued the following statement: "EA Salt Lake is becoming largely focused on mobile development, including The Sims and other projects," an EA representative told Game Informer. "Recent shifts unfortunately resulted in the reduction of a few teams. As we look to match skills with opportunities, some staff will be offered other positions at EA, while others will leave the company." No further information about how many people were laid off or the circumstances of their termination have yet come to light. Gamasutra has reached out to EA for further comment, and we'll keep you updated with any meaningful new information.
