UK studio Edge Case Games has managed to reap $1.3 million in a round of investment funding as it continues to develop its debut game Fractured Space on Steam's Early Access service.

It's rare these days to see notable investment in a PC game studio, especially one that's not working on a game about building things or surviving in an open world.

Formed as a spinoff of Strike Suit Zero studio Born Ready Games, Edge Case is designing Fractured Space as a 5v5 space shooter to be released as a free-to-play PC game later this year. To help fund development, its selling tiered early access to the game on Steam with extra perks like cosmetic upgrades, founder titles and in-game currency.
