Fastest-Growing Facebook Games: From Mahjong Saga To Zoo World

[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games (according to monthly active users), looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.] Zynga's Empire & Allies, which has dominated the list of Facebook gainers every week since it launch in May, is absent from the chart this week -- that's because in the past month, it's dropped from 52 million users to 44.9 million now. It's still the second most popular app on the social network, though! Mahjong Saga from skill-based gaming portal King.com, however, is attracting new players, and is the fastest-growing game this week after picking up 836,280 new users. Debuted earlier this month, the mahjong game has already boosted it audience to nearly 2 million monthly players. RockYou's social sims Zoo World and Gourmet Ranch are the second and third fastest growing games, respectively. Zoo World has 582,055 new users and a 5 million user total, while Gourmet Ranch has 478,027 new players and a 2.4 million total. At #4, we have Kama Games' The Pokerist Club — Texas Poker with 436,044 new card players and a 907,358 total. Although Empire & Allies is out of the chart, Digital Chocolate's similar turn-based strategy game Global Warfare has 284,423 new recruits and almost 4.8 million total users. Disney and Playdom's Gardens of Time takes #6 after gaining 272,937 new players for a 15.7 million total. It's followed by Diversion Inc.'s The A-List, which has 263,565 new users and a 424,933 user total. At the end of the top ten, there's iWin's game show licenses 1 vs 100 (+250,726; 360,565 total) and Deal or No Deal (+238,622; 517,202 total) at #8 and #9, and GameHouse's Collapse! Blast (+222,939; 328,898 total) at #10.
