Gamasutra's bi-weekly look at the fastest-growing Facebook titles examines recently popular games like Zynga Slingo, Draw Something, and King.com's Saga series of social games.
[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games according to monthly active users, looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.] Omgpop and Zynga's Draw Something Facebook app (which hooks into the mobile version) isn't the fastest growing title on the social network for a change -- that top spot belongs to Zynga Slingo, which picked up 3.3 million users in the last week. Growth for the bingo and slots mash-up, which is Zynga's first licensed game, might have been overlooked in the last few months due to Draw Something stealing all of the attention for the developer's games, but it's managed to reach a total of 17.3 million monthly players. We noted that Draw Something's audience growth appeared to be slowing recently, but it's picked right up as the app gained 3.2 million users in the last week for a total of 36.4 million. That's not far behind the second biggest Facebook game, Zynga's Texas HoldEm Poker, which has 36.7 million players. Draw My Thing, a true social game version of Draw Something that was also developed by Omgpop and is now owned by Zynga, was the seventh biggest gainer last week with 900,000 monthly active users and a 3.8 million total. Angry Birds, the Facebook version of Rovio's extremely popular mobile game, added 2 million users to its total. Since releasing in mid-February, the game has found success on the social network and attracted around 22.8 million monthly players. Also finding success on Facebook are King.com's various Saga games, including Bubble Witch Saga with 1.4 million new users (19.9 million total), Candy Crush Saga with 1.18 million new users (1.2 million total), and Hoop De Loop Saga with 1 million new users (5.9 million total). Texas HoldEm Poker is the eighth fastest-growing game on the site after bringing in 900,000 new players, followed by Disney and Playdom's Marvel: Avengers Alliance with 900,000 new players (36.7 million total) and Geewa's Pool Live Tour with 800,000 new players (8.8 million total). The full list of the top 20 fastest growing Facebook games along with exact monthly active user counts, are as follows: All charts and data are courtesy of Facebook application metrics and trends site AppData.
