Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
"The IGDA Foundation has a lofty goal and high purpose: make game development as a profession more diverse, more fulfilling, and more valued."
The IGDA Foundation, which assists the International Game Developers Association in its attempts to enhance and enrich the lives of game developers, has appointed Jen MacLean as managing director.
Formerly VP and GM of games at Comcast, MacLean had been volunteering on the Foundation Board of Trustees, and now becomes the group's first official member of staff.
According to IGDA Foundation chair, Luke Dicken, her new role will allow the collective to more "adequately support the global game development community."
Some of the Foundation's achievements to date include building out scholarship programs to include the Women in Games Ambassadors, and broadening the support for IGDA chapters and SIGs.
MacLean hopes to swiftly tackle the new challenges presented by emerging technologies such as augmented and virtual reality, and wants to push on with the Foundation's main objective of improving game development for everyone.
"The IGDA Foundation has a lofty goal and high purpose: make game development as a profession more diverse, more fulfilling, and more valued," said MacLean.
"In the upcoming weeks and months, you’ll be hearing more from me about the ways in which the IGDA Foundation supports these goals and works with our donors and volunteers to make a difference to game developers everywhere."
