Montreal-based game studio Hibernum Creations has hired a new executive whose past work you might recognize. Joining the mobile game studio as COO is Stephane D'Astous, who was most recently was general manager at Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Thief developer Eidos Montreal. Prior to that he was director of operations at Ubisoft Montreal. "I've been thinking moving onto the mobile side of our industry for a while now and I couldn't refuse the opportunity to join an up-and-coming studio with great potential like Hibernum," he said in a statement. D'Astous' divorce from the big publisher scene wasn't exactly amicable. In July last year, he announced he'd be leaving Eidos Montreal, which is owned by Square Enix, several months before the launch of Thief. "The lack of leadership, lack of courage and the lack of communication were so evident [at Square Enix], that I wasn't able to conduct my job properly," he said at the time. "I realized that our differences were irreconcilable, and that the best decision was unfortunately to part ways." Hibernum has been around since 2006 and partners with major companies like Disney, EA, Ubisoft and others making games including Calling All Mixels, Disney Infinity: Action!, Jewel Quest and Pearl's Peril.
