Newsbrief: Ankama, the successful French studio behind Dofus and Wakfu, has purchased Tokyo-based mobile studio Wizcorp. Wizcorp developed a mobile Dead Rising game for Capcom among other projects. Despite being based in Tokyo it has French co-founders, and contracts on backend work for other developers' games. It also has its own game engine, MAGE. For its part, Ankama has turned its game properties into TV animation, comics, and board games -- though it all mainly springs from its free-to-play PC games. "Within Ankama, Wizcorp will be able to put to good use the extensive experience it has acquired over the years on software, middleware and mobile games," Wizcorp CEO Guillaume Hansali said in a statement.
