BlueStacks' subscription-based GamePop microconsole will run Android games. That much we knew already. However, with its LookingGlass emulation software, the GamePop looks to bring in games designed for Apple devices as well.
Newsbrief: We brought you news before about BlueStacks' upcoming Ouya competitor, the GamePop. It will play Android games. But, in a surprise twist, it will play iOS games as well. Using its virtualization software LookingGlass, BlueStacks says the GamePop will be able to run apps designed for iOS devices, all without a stitch of Apple's code -- according to CEO Rosen Sharma. "Developers really like this because it gives them another way to monetize," Sharma told AllThingsD. iOS developers looking to get their games running on the GamePop will be able to work with BlueStacks to make it happen. The GamePop does not as yet have a firm release date but is expected to launch sometime this winter, on a low-cost subscription based model. You can learn more at the GamePop's website.
