LGBT-focused game event GaymerX returns to San Francisco for its second year following a successful crowdfunding campaign -- and is accepting speaker submissions through April 30.
Newsbrief: Following a successful crowdfunding campaign that wrapped up late last month, the GaymerX convention is heading back to San Francisco for its second year -- GaymerX2. The con is accepting speaker submissions via its website through the end of April. It will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown San Francisco from July 11 - 13, 2014. The con itself has a special focus: "We are excited to be able to provide a safe space for all gamers much in the way an LGBT film festival, or other queer events do. GaymerX is a place where we can express, explore, and celebrate various forms of diversity in the gaming medium, and we welcome everybody to join us," Toni Rocca, President of GaymerX, said in a statement. Announced speakers include cultural critic Mattie Brice, BioWare writer David Gaider, and Parsons The New School for Design professor Colleen Macklin. It will also feature a game exhibit curated by IndieCade and many fan-related activities.
