European developers, take note: the organizers of Game Developers Conference Europe 2014 have revealed some of the line-up for the 2014 Independent Games Summit at the Cologne show this August, which includes a variety of talks from industry luminaries on the art and business of independent game development. Notable announced talks include "Game a Week: How to Succeed, Fail and Learn" by Rami Ismail and Adriel Wallick, "All You Need Is L.O.V.E. - Indie Couples in Game Development" from We Are Muesli's Claudia Molinari and Matteo Pozzi. Also featured is Gamasutra editor Mike Rose's session on "How to Get Your Game Covered by YouTubers," with more key Indie Games Summit talks being announced every week, and 11 talks expected in total. This year also marks the debut of the GDC Europe Innovative Games Showcase, a curated 1-hour showcase of innovative or experimental games, with 10 micropresentations including diverse and new ways to demonstrate gameplay, art style, play style or anything in between. Coordinating and MC-ing the showcase will be game designer Jonatan Van Hove, working alongside newly revealed judges - starting with IGS' European advisors (Amnesia's Thomas Grip & Copenhagen Game Collective's Lau Korsgaard) as well as the Indie Fund's John Polson and IGF Chairman Emeritus Simon Carless. GDC Europe organizers are also excited to announce that Marie Foulston (The Wild Rumpus co-organizer), Zuraida Buter (zo-ii founder) and Jennifer Schneidereit (Nyamyam co-founder, developer of Tengami) have signed on to help judge the European Innovative Games Showcase. All of them have meaningful and varied experience in the independent game industry which will be brought to bear in their new role as arbiters of the IGS at the upcoming European game conference. At the same time, organizers are noting today that Independent Games Summit passes are unfortunately limited due to room capacity, and they're expected to sell out in the next few days. For now, you can still register for an IGS Pass for 149 Euros via the registration form on the official GDC Europe website. The pass allows developers to see the GDC Europe Expo floor and the Independent Games Summit sessions at a reduced price, and it also accords its bearers full trade visitor entry to the Gamescom event starting on Wednesday. Of course, the European Innovative Games Showcase is open to all passholders at the show and early birds can register by July 16 to save 200 euros on an All Access Pass. Organized by UBM Tech Game Network, GDC Europe, now in its sixth year in Germany, will run Monday through Wednesday, August 11-13 at the Congress-Centrum Ost in Cologne, Germany, co-located with Europe's biggest video game trade and public show Gamescom. Gamasutra and GDC are sibling organizations under parent UBM Tech
