Harmonix is having a long, hard think about the future of its free-to-play multiplayer shooter Chroma, after finding that the alpha build of the game didn't really satisfy testers. The game was announced earlier this year as a partnership with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive studio Hidden Path Entertainment. The idea was that performing actions to the beat is more beneficial than just playing it as an all-out shooter. However, it sounds like the concept needs a lot more work. In an email sent out to testers, and as printed by Kotaku, Harmonix admitted that it was going back to the drawing board. "Based on the terrific feedback we got from all of you in the community, as well as our own analysis, we have concluded that Chroma will need some substantial retooling to be the game we want it to be," reads the email. The statement goes on to say that Harmonix is looking to take certain elements from the current alpha that work, and prototype new directions for the concept. "We look forward to sharing more with you down the line, as Chroma evolves in new directions," it adds. Harmonix is also putting together Amplitude, thanks to its successful Kickstarter earlier this month.
