Organizers of the Paris-based trade show Game Connection Europe have unveiled the winners for its second annual "Selected Projects" competition, which offered standout indie teams dev support from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. During the competition, a panel of industry professionals judged 15 projects from various indie teams, and four of the submitted titles went home with awards and Sony-sponsored prizes. The competition's Best Project 2012 award went to Mimimi Productions for their PSN, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam action adventure game Tink. Alongside the award, the team will receive additional development support from Sony, including access to PlayStation 3 or Vita development kits. Runners up for the award were Casual Brothers for their XBLA and PSN game Orc Attack, and Blossom Minds for the water-based platformer Walter. These two teams will be invited to Sony's offices in London for a training day covering technical support, QA, and business. Finally, the competition gave the sponsored Sony Computer Entertainment award to Facepalm Games for The Swapper, a sci-fi puzzle platformer. Facepalm will receive hardware and development support from Sony, as well as pre-certification support for its chosen project. Game Connection Europe first debuted last year in Lyon, France, and previously honored indie teams such as Swing Swing Submarine (Seasons After Fall) and Uncanny Games (The Uncanny Fish Hunt). The three-day 2011 Game Connection Europe is currently in progress, and will run until December 8 at the Grand Arche in Paris, France.
