Intel's Level Up 2009 Judging Panel Includes Will Wright, Sid Meier

Intel has selected its panel of judges for the Level Up 2009 game demo development competition. This year's contest will be judged by a number of noteworthy gaming industry figures, including Will Wright, Sid Meier, and Brad Wardell.

Intel has selected its panel of judges for the Level Up 2009 game demo development competition. This year's contest will be judged by a number of noteworthy gaming industry figures, including Will Wright, Sid Meier, and Brad Wardell. Will Wright is co-founder of SimCity and The Sims developer Maxis. Sid Meier designed and developed the first entry in the Civilization series. Brad Wardell serves as president and CEO of developer Stardock. The judging panel additionally includes Saber Interactive game content director Rick Raymo, Frogames co-founder Christophe Canon, and five representatives from Intel's software and development branches. Game designers have until July 1st to submit their concepts for the competition. Currently, submissions may only include descriptions and screenshots. After the initial deadline, contestants selected for the next round must submit prototype code by August 10th. Winners will be announced in September. First prize winners will each receive a gaming hardware bundle valued at $4,000, along with a selection of software. The competition's winning entries will be demonstrated at the Game Developers Conference Austin, to be held between September 15th and 18th.
