A couple of free-to-play game industry veterans have founded a new mobile games investment and publishing initiative, through which they plan to identify promising new mobile developers and help them bring games to the global market. INVEST+PUBLISH is a new program from Midverse Studios, the company headed up by Rizwan Virk and Mitch Liu, who were both previously part of the TapJoy founding team, and helped to developer some of the first successful free-to-play games. With this new initiative, the team is particularly looking for studios who believe they have innovative mobile game ideas that can potentially leverage existing Hollywood properties, as well as new IP. Being part of the scheme includes receiving investment, multi-game publishing deals, and assistance in licensing deals. Two studios are already part of the scheme. Disruptor Beam is the team best known for the recent Game of Thrones Ascent mobile game, while Imaginary Games is working on a collectible card game called Afterland. Developers interested in checking out the scheme can find information on the official website.
