Newsbrief: UK-based developer Jagex today announced a big step forward for its popular RuneScape RPG franchise, with a new installment on the way, and a new engine. RuneScape 3, due for release this summer, is the first RuneScape client to be built using HTML5 alongside WebGL. Jagex says that HTML5 will allow the game to make "much better use of your computer's hardware." The game will build on the previous installments, and allow registered RuneScape users to simply sign in using their current accounts, details and avatars. Notably, the company said that for those users whose computers are too old to run the HTML5 version properly, a Java client will also be supplied. The above video offers more details.
