Japan's best-selling games of 2012 dominated by Nintendo

Nintendo dominated the top-selling games in Japan during 2012, new data from Media Create shows, with Pokemon Black/White 2 the best-selling game by a long shot.

Nintendo dominated the top-selling games in Japan during 2012, new data from Media Create shows, with Pokemon Black/White 2 the best-selling game by a long shot. As published by Japanese games website 4Gamer, and translated by Siliconera, the pair of Pokemon titles sold nearly 3 million copies between them. And the rest of the top 10 best-selling chart looks rosy for Nintendo as well, with six titles in total from the publisher, and eight of the top 10 released exclusively for Nintendo platforms. Nintendo's own titles in the top 10 included Animal Crossing: New Leaf at number two with nearly 2 million sales, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 at number three with over 1.7 million copies sold -- both released for the Nintendo 3DS. The highest-selling game in Japan that wasn't from Nintendo was Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D on the Nintendo 3DS -- it sold just under 1 million copies in total.
