Newsbrief: The first settlement reached in the 38 Studios case can move forward after being held up, the Associated Press reports. The settlement with attorney Antonio Afonso and his law firm Moses Afonso Ryan was reached late last month, but other defendants objected to a Rhode Island law created to facilitate settlements in the case. Rhode Island Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein ruled that this law is constitutional. This opens the door for settlements with other defendants, which include studio founder and World Series pitcher Curt Schilling. For an inside look at what happened at 38 Studios, read Gamasutra's first-hand report from developers who worked at the ill-fated studio.
