The newly-reborn Kojima Productions closed out last year with less than ten staffers, and as the studio staffs up frontman Hideo Kojima now says he intends to cap the venture at 100 people, max.

"100 people is max," Kojima reportedly said at a recent roundtable interview attended by Gamereactor. "I'm aiming to keep the staff less than 100 people. "

That's interesting because, as Kojima himself notes during the roundtable, over 200 people contributed to his most recent released game, Metal Gear Solid V.

Cut loose from Konami following that game's launch, Kojima now sounds intent on avoiding that level of production as he builds a new studio to work on a new PlayStation 4 exclusive.

The proposed 100-person cap falls in line with comments Kojima made earlier this year about appreciating the upsides of small, tight-knit studios, many of which he visited during a recent world tour of game developers with PlayStation 4 architect Mark Cerny.

"In order to create something that is really of quality, you need technology, but more than technology, you need people. You need talented people," Kojima said, following the tour. "I’ll create an environment where these people will develop their talents."
