Mark Skaggs, Zynga's senior vice president of games, has left the company.

Skaggs, a Westwood Studios veteran, joined Zynga in 2008, and shepherded the company though what you might call its "FarmVille age" -- serving as its SVP of games and lead the creative teams behind FarmVille, CityVille, and Empires & Allies.

The news was confirmed in an Zynga staff email from founder and CEO Mark Pincus, provided by the company to Gamasutra. No details about why Skaggs chose to leave now are included.

As Skaggs exits, Lincoln Brown and Joe Kaminkow have both been promoted to senior vice president for games. Both come from Spooky Cool Labs, the Wizard of Oz slots developer that has helped drive the success of Zynga's social casino business. Casino games are a focus for the newly trim Zynga.
