Microsoft offering free Assassin's Creed in Xbox One bundle

What happens when something works? Do it twice. Microsoft announces a new pack-in plan on the back of a likely Madden-driven console sales success.

Today, Microsoft announced that it is releasing an Xbox One bundle on November 2 that includes both Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed IV. There are two bundles -- one with Kinect, and one without. The Kinect bundle also comes with Dance Central Spotlight, making for a total of three free games. The Unity download code in the box will allow players to pre-load the game for delivery upon release -- November 11. Both bundles will cost the same as Xbox One consoles without any extra games -- $399 without Kinect, and $499 with. Microsoft recently released an Xbox One bundle with Madden NFL 15 in collaboration with Electronic Arts. While reliable sales data on Xbox One has been hard to come by, Microsoft's console has regularly lagged behind the PlayStation 4 -- though Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter predicted that the Madden pack-in pushed it ahead of Sony's console for September, which likely explains the Assassin's Creed move.
