California-based mobile/social game firm SGN has spent an unspecified cut of its recent $130 million investment from Korea's Netmarble to buy up indie studios Kiwi Inc. and Fat Rascal Games.
California-based mobile game firm Social Game Network (or SGN) has spent an unspecified portion of its recent $130 million investment from Korea's Netmarble to buy up indie studios Kiwi Inc. and Fat Rascal Games.
This is chiefly notable because it highlights how SGN, which is best known for games like Cookie Jam and Panda Pop, is moving to expand in terms of both location and talent.
The L.A. Times reports that 15 people at Fat Rascal in Seattle will join SGN as its new Seattle studio, while 25 staffers at Kiwi in Palo Alto while now be under the SGN banner. When the dust clears, this will bring SGN's total size to roughly 290 people spread across offices in California, Seattle and Argentina.
