Worchester Polytechnic Institute announced that game designer Brian Moriarty and digital artist Britton Snyder will join the school's Interactive Media and Game Development (IMGD) program in the fall semester as professors of practice. Moriarty is known for his work in the adventure and interactive fiction genres. He authored three text-based titles for noted interactive fiction publisher Infocom in the 1980s, and later developed the LucasArts-published graphic adventure game Loom. Snyder has created art for Blizzard's Warcraft and Diablo franchises. Some of his recent work appears in THQ's video game adaptation of Pixar's CGI animated film Wall-E. "Brian and Britt bring a wealth of knowledge to WPI," said IMGD director Mark Claypool. "Here, they will be able to teach aspiring game designers and artists how the game industry works and what is required to ship profitable and fun games. Their practical, industry-tested insights will complement the solid education students in our program receive in the principles of developing games and other interactive media." Worchester Polytechnic Institute's IMGD major is a four-year undergraduate program detailing the creative aspects of game development. Student programmers and artists work closely during the course of the program, together studying the creation of art, music, and narrative for interactive media.
