Newsbrief: NCsoft has laid off 16 customer support staff at its Austin, Texas location, Polygon reports. An anonymous, affected staffer told the site that was the number; the company's official statement (as provided to Polygon) simply states that "a small number" of staff were affected.

The move comes as part of a restructuring at the company, as it shifts its customer support to "an external provider."

That restructuring began in October last year, when the company laid off a large number of staff, particularly at WildStar developer Carbine Studios.

"Today’s change should have no impact to former, current or future customers and is intended to enable NCsoft West to more easily scale its future support organization for new products on new platforms," the statement NCsoft provided reads.
