Russian developer and publisher Nival Interactive has announced that it has established a new office in Los Angeles to expand its business into North American markets. Known for developing titles such as Heroes of Might & Magic V and Blitzkrieg, Nival says it plans to reach out to the North American market with games that combine a number of "social and strategy elements." Nival plans to release a number of free-to-play, microtransaction-based titles in North America, and the company says it will publish its first title in the region by the end of 2011. These upcoming titles will support platforms including PC, Mac, iOS and Android. In addition to reaching out to the North American market, Nival says that the new office will help the company find growth opportunities in Central and South America. David D. Christensen, who previously worked at Sony Online Entertainment, Vivendi Universal and IGE, will serve as the North American general manager for the company. In addition to its new L.A. branch, Nival has offices in Minsk, Belarus and St. Petersburg, Russia, with its headquarters located in Moscow. Nival previously opened an office in Los Angeles in 2006 when it hired Xbox co-creator and former Infinium Labs CEO Kevin Bachus. The studio closed later that year when Bachus left the company and Nival underwent some internal "restructuring."
