Nintendo's 3DS console held onto the top of the hardware sales charts in Japan this week, although it did see a hefty drop in sales from last week. For the week ended July 24, data from tracking firm Media Create, as posted on NeoGAF, saw the 3DS drop to 31,826 unit sales, down from 46,637 in the previous week. However, this was still enough to beat off Sony's PSP, which managed to sell 26,854 units, up marginally from last week's 26,551. With the imminent price drop on the Nintendo 3DS, it will be interesting to observe sales patterns for the console over the coming weeks. Elsewhere, the chart remained stationary, with the PlayStation 3 and original PlayStation 2 selling roughly the same as last week. The Wii saw a slight drop in sales, while the PSP Go continued its decline, with just 14 sales. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended July 24, 2011. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.)
