Nintendo has detailed its plans for the "quality of life" products it teased earlier this year, revealing a device that will apparently help with sleep disorders. The company previously said that it was looking "to redefine our notion of entertainment as something that improves people's quality of life in enjoyable ways," with the aim to create non-wearable tech for health purposes. As part of the company's second quarter fiscal briefing, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has now revealed a collaboration with U.S. firm ResMed, a global manufacturer of sleep disorder treatments, to create a fatigue-mapping device. "Since fatigue per se is not regarded as a disease in the medical world, it is said to be a field where sufficient research has yet to be conducted," said Iwata. We have been fortunate to encounter several experts who have been conducting cutting-edge research in the science of fatigue. Together, we are now developing technology to estimate fatigue." Iwata said that the hardware will be small enough to play on a bedside table. It then uses microwave sensors to track sleep, collecting the data in QOL cloud servers, to help users work out healthy sleeping habits.
