Polygon reports that Secure Axcess has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nintendo and various retailers in a Texas court over sales of the company's Wii U console. The lawsuit alleges that Nintendo's Wii U console infringes on a 2003 patent for a "multiscreen personal computer display method and apparatus" currently held by Secure Axcess, a limited liability subsidiary company that describes itself as being "dedicated to monetization and management of Internet security patents." According to a report by the Southeast Texas Record, Secure Axcess is demanding a jury trial. The company filed a similar lawsuit against Nintendo and a number of other retailers over sales of the DS last January, citing the same patent. A judicial memorandum filed on that case last month suggests the lawsuit is still in court. Nintendo has triumphed over a number of similar patent lawsuits in the past. Earlier this year it actually snapped up IA Labs' patent portfolio after the company failed to pay court-mandated reparations for the expenses Nintendo had accrued in defending itself against IA Labs' patent lawsuits over sales of the Wii console.
